Watch Your Step!

13 Dec

Did you ever stop to think that each step you take in life leads to a second step, then a third, and so on?  With each new step, your momentum increases as you head toward a future destination.

When our steps are ordered by God, we will stop to ask for His guidance before taking each step. As we do, His truth and wisdom will help us safely reach a good place.

If you do what the LORD wants, he will make certain each step you take is sure. The LORD will hold your hand, and if you stumble, you still won’t fall. Psalm 37:23-24 (CEV)

Reaching a bad destination can often be traced back to taking a first step of compromise—doing what we know isn’t right in order to pursue what we want at the moment. The next step often requires lying—to cover up what we’re doing from those who may try to stop us. Before we know it, our steps are being ordered, but not by God. Instead, we are being drawn into situations or problems we cannot handle on our own. Once this happens, it isn’t easy to shake free and change course.

In novel 1, Waiting for Mr. Right, Julia fell into a trap by compromising what was right and lying to her family and friends about what she was doing. In fact, her ongoing relationship with Mr. Wrong almost ended her life! It wasn’t until she made a decision to stop compromising and start telling the truth that God and her friends were able to step in and rescue her from the serious consequences caused by her foolish decisions.

Are you in the middle of a messy situation caused by compromise and deception? If so, are you ready for a change? Then look up and reach for your Heavenly Father’s hand. He will gladly lead you to a place of peace and safety. The truth will set you free; His forgiveness and help is yours for the asking!

You are loved—and you are not alone!
