Pretty Impressive!

30 Apr

A music student from the UK just made this a cappella version of David & Nicole Binion’s song Heaven on Earth. That may not seem like a big deal (since people cover artists’ tunes all the time on YouTube), but when you watch the video and see that he’s singing all six parts, this gets pretty impressive!

Watching this got me to thinking…What are we doing with our talents? Are we being creative, developing our gifts, pursuing our passions, and filling our time with meaningful things? Or are we spending hours on the couch watching show after show? Or spending all our free time on Facebook & Instagram, living more in the virtual world than the real one? (Have you seen the Toyota commercial that makes this point? My favorite part is when she mouths so sad!)

Anyway, you might not be able to sing in 6-part harmony like the guy in the video above (I wish I could sing just one part that well : ), but God has definitely given you talents to enjoy and use for His glory. So take a moment and think about what you enjoy doing, what you are naturally good at in life. (It could be writing, designing, playing an instrument, playing a sport, cooking, acting, speaking, painting, drawing, researching…the list is endless.)

Carve some time out to not only do what you enjoy, but to develop that gift into something special. It may take days, months, and even years to develop your skills, but when you look back a few years from now, you’ll be glad you used your time to create something meaningful and lasting (rather than just stressing over Facebook likes or watching every episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. : )

Much love,

Lisa

Someone who has read the 3 books about Mr. Right asked me if I knew if there will be any books geared toward boys & Mrs. Right. I am submitting this question for her.

@Linda: Hi, Linda! Thanks for your question! (It’s one we often get. ; ) Our current focus is on the Mr. Right Series and getting our novels/curriculum into more young women’s hands, but the need for such a series for young men (with Mrs. Right) is definitely on our radar. While we do not feel called to pursue it at this time, please tell your friend to continue checking our blog in the weeks and months to come. We have a contact who is publishing a mentoring novel for tween boys (of particular interest to me since I have a tween son : ), and whenever we come across quality materials similar to ours, we will be sure to pass them on to readers! Thanks again for your question…Have a great week!
